Unlike other sensors that use heat or light, Aura uses wireless signals - a more accurate and dependable way of detecting motion. Wireless signals, like WiFi from your router, move throughout your home creating a pattern. When people or pets move through the space the pattern is disrupted and Aura then classifies the movement as people, pets, or mechanical (like a fan).
The in-app setup will provide a guide for ideal placement in the home based on the number of floors you want to cover and the number of Beacons purchased. Every home is different, so follow the guide to the best of your abilities and follow the tips below. Beacons placement affects coverage.
Building materials and home layout can affect how wireless signals move through your home, and change the coverage of Aura. If your home has concrete or brick walls, long narrow layouts, is older or has many smaller rooms - you may need additional Beacons to get better coverage.

Aura uses mesh motion sensing to create a dynamic connection between Beacons when 3 or more are set up in a home. This allows all Beacons and the Hub to create multiple connections with each other to increase the capabilities of motion sensing throughout the home.
The Aura home mobile application uses Location Services offered by your smartphone’s OS to set up a 300m geofence radius around your home. Your smartphone lets the Aura app know when you have arrived or left your home radius and a notification is sent to keep you in the loop.
* You can't purchase more than 3 additional beacons for each starter kit.
* Your Aura Home setup will not work without the addition of a starter kit
